At the state level, READ 10 is affiliated with the Connecticut Education Association (CEA). The CEA was formed in 1848 with the objective to organize teachers for the improvement of the profession and local public schools.


Today, at their headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut, CEA is composed of members from K-12 public schools, retired teachers and college students preparing to enter the teaching profession. CEA actively lobbies for pro-education legislation at the state and federal levels, advances and protects the rights of teachers and works with state legislators to continue to elevate the teaching profession and to promote public education.

READ 10 is affiliated, at the national level, with the National Education Association (NEA). The NEA was formed in 1857 when one hundred educators came together as one voice for public education. The NEA is the voice of educational professionals with the mission to advocate for the teaching profession and to unite members and the nation to fulfill the promise of public education to prepare every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world.
